Well, ladies…it’s sandal time! At least where I live it is, and if it isn’t for you it will be very very soon! This past week I have really dug out all my sandals and spring attire to wear. Then it hit me; my feet are disgusting! After being harbored up in closed shoes for the past several months they are looking ROUGH! I generally keep my toes painted year round, but as I look at my feet right now, yikes! The polish is half chipped on every toe, and lets not even talk about the calluses and dry skin left over from winter. You can always go get a pedicure at your local spa or salon, but I enjoy doing it at home sometimes. We all love sandals, so here are some products and tricks to get your piggies in tip top shape!

One of my favorite things at home is my footbath! You can get one like this Conair Footbath with bubbles & heat for as low as 30 bucks.  That’s the same price as one pedicure! All you do is fill up the little tub and plug her in. Between the warm water and the bubbles this is such a relaxing contraption. It also helps soften up any rough skin and cuticles that you might want to remove.

Using a foot soak in your at home spa takes the experience to a whole new level! I love minty products like The Body Shop’s Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak. It is super invigorating and soothes your feet instantly. Again, this will also aid in softening the tough skin on your feet. If you don’t have access to a foot spa, filling up a bathtub with hot water will work just fine! You’ll find yourself using this soak all the time, especially after a long day of hoofing it around town in  your highest heels!

I get pretty bad calluses on my tootsies. Gena’s Callus Off is my foot saver for spring and summer! You apply this gel to any calluses and let it penetrate for 3-5 minutes. I generally apply this after soaking my feet for about 30 minutes. You don’t have to do anything other than rinse the product off, but I like to follow it up with the next item below!

The callus remover is absolutely incredible by itself, but it’s even better when you use something like this Sally Hansen Beauty Tools Sole Control Foot File alongside. You simply run this up and down your feet to help remove areas of hard skin. A pumice stone or something of the like works perfectly too.. I just really like the handle on this one. This will soon become your foot’s best friend, and it will only set you back $5 at the most!

Now that you have the ickyness under control you need a pretty polish to top it all off. My personal favorite for spring is Essie’s Orange, It’s Obvious! This is a beautiful orangey red that will leave you with smokin’ hot feet. Not only is this such a beautiful shade, but it’s also very similar to Tangerine Tango, the Pantone color of the year! You’ll definitely be looking  good and styling with this one.

Once you’ve spent your whole afternoon prepping your piggies you won’t want them to go right back to the way they were in two weeks. Upkeep of your feet is so important, and using a product like this Carmex Healing Skin Cream will save you from laboring over your toes again any time soon. You can easily rub this on after taking a shower to moisturize and repair. That will work most of the time, but there might be some situations when you’ll need some heavy duty! That is when an old pair of socks comes into play. Lather this on fairly thick and slip on a pair of socks. Sleep in them, and you’ll wake up with thoroughly nourished feet!

Now you’re ready for sandals! Yea! How do you prep your feet for spring and summer?! Make sure to check back for a post on my current favorite trendy sandals!
